Identity Accessories at Kerplunk!

Last Saturday, November 19th, we had an amazing and fun time at The Patterson during Kerplunk! Participants made accessories that expressed their identities. We created shields, hats, crowns, arm bands, necklaces and more! Check out the images below to see all of the creative ideas and see how much you can learn about the person wearing the accessory.

There are three weeks left for the Fall 2011 Kerplunk!, we hope you will join us next Saturday 12pm-3pm.

Making Microphones at Kerplunk!

Thank you to everyone who came out for a fantastic first day of our Fall 2011 Kerplunk! Inspired by the new exhibition Unreliable Narrators, we created microphones so that we all had a way to tell our own stories. Participants made beautifully decorated microphones - check out the pictures below to see them for yourself.

Make sure you join us next week Saturday, November 19th, 12pm - 3pm at the Patterson to make Identity Accessories!

Kerplunk! in the Fall

Thanks to all Kerplunkers who braved Baltimore's summer heat to make some great art with us! It was great to see some new and old faces. And of course, we would love to see you all back in the fall.
Mark your calendar with the fall dates: November 12th- December 10th,
 same time 12 to 3.

Have a great beginning of your school year and we'll see you soon!

Kerplunk! August 6th

For the final Kerplunk! of the summer we created image transfers using old books and packing tape! Once soaked in water, the images that had been pressed onto the packing tape can be made into transparencies by rubbing away the paper. The image sticks on the tape! They can then be stuck on a variety of surfaces to decorate. We made ours into postcards.
If you're interested in making your own, here are some instructions: http://www.scrapscene.com/2008/04/thursdays-tutorial-packing-tape-transfers.html
Here are some of the creative designs that kids came up with (and a silly drawing):

One Hot Kerplunk!!! July the 23rd

Everyone survived the heat today, making some cool art. Today our project was the Little Big Show. We checked out all the great artwork in the Big Show, and chose or favorites. Then we made our own show, but mini. I think next year the two shows should be together because our mini art gallery's turned out great. Just check them out yourself!
